I know I said that I won't be posting anything until after my animation project but...yeah I just had to scribble this up haha! e u e;

The key's symbolism:
>> The eye is green with envy (literally), cracked and imperfect. Jamie tries hard to hide it, but his hurt is still visible upon closer inspection.
>> It glows a faint white light, which relates to a particular friend and the unconditional goodness that he embodied. This is what Jamie values most in life.
>> The socket is made to resemble the rough outer shell of an oyster, and is lined with blue mother of pearl. This symbolises Jamie's abrasive exterior and an inner beauty that may be closer to the surface than one may think.
>> The chains are loosely joined together by an unlocked padlock to represent self-imposed restrictions and insecurity.
>> Inscribed in gold lettering is the Persian word for 'devotion' (or 'loyalty').
>> There are two scorpions with their tails relaxed in a ying & yang kind of position - two solitary creatures living and working in harmony. Jamie can only coexist with those who understand and respect his desire to be independent.
>> The small black gemstones holding the teeth in place are obsidian, a type of rock believed to have anger-absorbing abilities. Their place in this key is for support in a fragile area, much like how Jamie needs help in order to keep his composure. However, just as the key appears, he can snap very easily if one is not careful.
As a manticore, Jamie has the physical traits of a human, shark, lion and scorpion. However, he has a closer affinity to the scorpion than any of the other species (much to his dismay).

Also...something that may not be relevant but I thought was interesting anyway is the scorpion's sex symbolism:
